Every autumn in Badalona, we welcome a renowned international guitarist. This year, we had the pleasure of enjoying the talents of Ricardo Gallén, a virtuoso with a vast repertoire and exquisite recordings: Sor, Bach, Brouwer, Giuliani...
THE CONCERT
The concert took place on November 2, 2024 in the Church of Carmen in Badalona. It was attended by more than 250 people, including other prominent guitarists, connoisseurs of Ricardo's career, and numerous guitar students. As usual, the entrance was free, with the possibility of making a voluntary contribution.
At the beginning, a minute of silence was held for victims of severe flooding in several Spanish provinces, especially in Valencia.
Precisely because of logistical problems caused by heavy rain meant the guitar with which Ricardo Gallén was to play could not reach Badalona. He played with a guitar made by Antonio Manjón, our association's president.
For almost an hour and a half, interrupted only by applause, Ricardo Gallén performed with great mastery several Latin American works by Manuel María Ponce, Antonio Lauro and Agustín Barrios, as well as the Gran Solo by Fernando Sor and a flawless Suite BWV 997 by J.S. Bach.
At the end of the concert, Gallén treated the audience to an encore, surprising everyone with a very peculiar interpretation of Le Coucou by the French musician Louis-Claude Daquin.
In short, a masterful recital by Ricardo Gallén in Badalona, with an enthusiastic audience that enjoyed it to the full. A concert to remember forever.
¡Gracias Maestro!
