Antonio Manjón Martín, renowned luthier and president of the Badalona Guitar Association, was in charge of opening the Badalona 2017 Guitar Conference.
With a speech that lasted five minutes, he briefly presented our Association and glossed the importance of Antonio de Torres Jurado in the world of guitar.
"One of the founding objectives of our Association was the organization in Badalona of an international event around the guitar, and the bicentennial of Antonio de Torres has encouraged us to give shape to that idea organizing this Conference."
Antonio Manjón briefly explained the program of events planned for the three days of the Conference.
Although the main events of this Festival took place at the NAU3 of the Center Cultural l'Escorxador de Badalona, the opening ceremony was held at Casa América Catalunya, in Barcelona.
This entity generously offered its auditorium to host the first day of the Festival, in gratitude for the invitation of American artists to the event.
In addition to the opening ceremony, on this first day the guitar-replica exhibition was presented and the conference of the Mexican luthier Abel García López took place. The event ended with a concert by guitarist Antonio López Palacios, also Mexican.
Throughout the event, it was possible to see the exhibition of replicas of guitars built by Antonio de Torres.
